But, as Eraqus dawns on this, Master Xehanort himself appears and finishes Eraqus off, causing him to fade out of existence. Terra wins the battle but spares Eraqus, who expresses remorse for realizing he had turned his Keyblade on his own students. As Eraqus charges forward, Ventus is thrown into a portal to another world by Terra while the latter battles Eraqus. Terra attempts to stop the execution and then soon after, Eraqus senses that Terra has descended into darkness, causing him sadness by the fact that he must eliminate two of his apprentices. When Terra returns to the Land of Departure, Eraqus attempts to vanquish Ventus to prevent Xehanort from using the boy in his plans. ![]() However, after Terra departs, Ventus leaves as well, so Eraqus instructs Aqua to bring Ventus back. Eraqus, however, is unaware that Master Xehanort had interfered, using his dark powers to affect the course of the exam itself.Īfter Master Xehanort goes missing, Eraqus sends Terra and Aqua to find him, trusting Aqua with responsibility for Terra due to his fear of the man's inner darkness. Eraqus believes that Terra is not ready because he lacks control over his own darkness. Eraqus begins the exam and in the end, Aqua passes, but Terra fails. Master Xehanort arrives, along with Ventus, at the Land of Departure and the boy watches Terra and Aqua preparing for their exams. At the beginning of Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, Eraqus prepares to hold the Mark of Mastery exam. Master Eraqus is a Keyblade Master and the master of Terra and Aqua, and he also serves as the second master of Ventus. Gameplay: 10/10 if you are good at strategy games like XCOM and Fire Emblem, but it may be a little too hard for the strategy newbie or for small kids.Original Characters Sora Main article: Sora Riku Main article: Riku Kairi Main article: Kairi Terra Main article: Terra Aqua Main article: Aqua Ventus Main article: Ventus Naminé Main article: Naminé Overall: Graphics 10/10 (Absolutely Beautiful artwork and animations) Sound: 10/10 Great Effects and the music is excellent. You have to adapt your team or you will die horribly. All of the weapons have unique effects and every character has their strengths and weaknesses. The sound effects are incredible and the music consists of modified versions of the classic Mario tunes we all know and love. I did notice frame drops a couple of times but it was never actually during a battle. The graphical quality of this game is absolutely top notch! The people at Ubisoft clearly did this as a passion project and it shows in every scene. The humor throughout the scripting and little cut scenes is all great, and even the things that happen sometimes in battle will give you a laugh. I have to say that Rabbid Peach has made me literally lol many times so far. Many people seem to not like the Rabbids, which is und erstandable from their minigame collections, however they absolutely shine in this adaptation. The exploration areas in between battles offer up environmental puzzles, mazes, etc and many areas are blocked off by obstacles that you learn to eliminate as you play the game, this encourages you to go back and rock out the previous levels again for more collectibles, coins, etc. The combat is very strategic, yes it starts off easy but it ramps up in difficulty quickly and you have to plan and play smart. So, let's say you are in world 1-2, there may be a couple segments you have to explore or battle in to get through the 2nd act of world 1. Each world is divided into sections as are most Mario games but they are also broken into segments for each area. This game is a mix of XCOM turned based strategy gameplay and Mario exploration. Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned I got it for about $15 which is an amazing value as nearly never minute was enjoyable! Wish they made more like this (maybe Smash Bros with a different style? the stories from both would even work, like any excuse Nintendo gives us to have this kind of mix of characters!) Read full review It's probably a 15-30hr game, ranging from "just want to do the story" to "want to 100% everything". I almost wish it was longer or maybe had some nice DLC to include more characters with more mix of abilities and game play set ups. The variety with characters is fun, interesting, and offers a bit of "choice of play style". Getting 100% is going to be a big hurdle, even for the most veteran of tactical RPG'ers. ![]() The story is pretty easy, offering some challenge but experienced TRPG players will dominate. ![]() Mario's great Tactical RPG, done to perfection.Īn amazing tactical RPG! The end challenges are HARD, like, keep trying because something might proc differently, hard.
